Bộ bài
Giống với Hold’em, trò Omaha sử dụng bộ bài chuẩn với 52 lá bài và bao gồm có 4 chất là cơ, rô, bích, chuồn, mỗi chất có 13 lá bài từ 2 cho đến A.
Vị trí Dealer
Mỗi ván bài đều sẽ có một người chơi đảm nhiệm vị trí Dealer. Được ký hiệu bằng một nút nhỏ hình tròn. Bình thường đây cũng sẽ là người xào bài và chia bài. Tuy nhiên, khi chơi Poker Omaha online thì bạn không phải làm việc đó. Vị trí Dealer này chỉ để xác định người phải post tiền mù cũng như người hành động đầu tiên ở mỗi vòng cược.
Bài chung
5 lá bài chung sẽ được lật ra trên bàn qua 4 vòng cược (3 lá ở Flop, 1 lá ở Turn và 1 lá ở River).
Hành động
Ở mỗi vòng cược, người chơi sẽ có các tùy chọn hành động như sau:
- Check – Xem: Khi chưa có ai đặt cược, bạn cũng không cược và chờ hành động của người kế tiếp.
- Bet – Cược: Bạn có thể đặt cược đầu ván đấu khi chưa có ai làm việc này. Lúc này, những người chơi khác nếu muốn tiếp tục chơi thì ít nhất phải theo bằng với số tiền mà bạn đã cược.
- Raise – Tố: Khi đã có người đặt cược, người chơi sau ngoài lựa chọn theo hoặc bỏ bài thì cũng có thể cược thêm, còn gọi là tố.
- Call – Theo: Bỏ ra số tiền bằng với số mà người chơi trước đã cược để tiếp tục chơi ván bài đó.
- Fold – Bỏ bài: Không chơi nữa và ngồi ngoài chờ ván bài mới.
Cách thắng một ván bài
Cũng giống với các trò poker khác, để thắng một ván bài Omaha bạn phải có bài mạnh nhất khi ngửa bài hoặc ép tất cả đối thủ phải bỏ cuộc trước đó.

Xếp hạng bài trong Omaha cũng tương tự như trong Hold’em. Thứ tự từ mạnh đến yếu được xếp như sau:
- Sảnh chúa – Royal Flush
- Thùng phá sảnh – Straight Flush

- Cù lũ – Full house
- Thùng – Flush
